(Batesville, Ind.) – A new subdivision in Batesville has received initial approval from the city’s advisory plan commission.

Developer Charlie Gillman wants to build a 12-lot subdivision called Indiana Court on a lot just off Indiana Avenue near downtown Batesville.

Last week, the advisory plan commission gave a favorable recommendation to the needed zone change and a few variances needed to make the project possible, reports the Batesville Herald Tribune.

Some of the variances include street width, sidewalks, a detention basin, and where homes should be built in relation to the basin.

Surveyor Rob Seig says the potential subdivision would offer starter homes and affordable housing.

Batesville City County will have the final say on the requested zone change.
