Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department Merges With Patriot Volunteer Fire Department

The merger will allow for quicker response for emergencies within the Town of Patriot.

(Patriot, Ind.) – Two volunteer fire departments are merging.

Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department Inc. announced Monday its merger with Patriot Volunteer Fire Department.

With the merger, the Patriot fire station is now referred to as Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department Patriot Station #2. The station is complete with a certified fire engine and emergency medical response vehicle to provide a quicker response for emergencies within the Town of Patriot.

According to a news release, Posey Township Fire will continue needed maintenance on the Patriot fire station and the existing fire apparatus inside the building to get the station fully operational once again.

An open house for the Patriot station will be held at a later date to be announced.

Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department has provided professional volunteer fire protection and emergency medical services to the Posey Township community since 1972. Their organization consists of approximately 20 members with various firefighting and emergency medical services certifications.

Residents of Patriot and Posey Township are invited to apply to join the team as a volunteer firefighter or emergency medical volunteer. The fire department offers free training and certification.
