(Florence, Ky.) - Florence Police say it was a misunderstanding.
On Tuesday, Eagle Country 99.3 told you that police were searching for the driver of a vehicle which pulled up to a home on Honeysuckle Terrace in Florence and asked two young girls if they needed a ride on Monday.
Police now say that driver reached out to police as the story went locally viral Tuesday. He was not a prowler. Rather, he was a rideshare driver who was looking to pick up a customer nearby.
"Not realizing the age of the female students, the driver assumed they were his customer and asked them if they were waiting for a ride. This information was verified with the rideshare company as well, confirming his customer was actually on Shenandoah Drive at the time," Florence Police said.
Police are not charging that man and they consider the case closed.
Officers say the two young girls did the right thing notifying their parents about a stranger offering them a ride.
