(Aurora, Ind.) – Numerous local agencies responded to South Dearborn High School on Monday, but it was just a drill.

With prom season approaching, the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and South Dearborn High School partnered to show students the dangers of drunk driving with a live mock accident.

The demonstration included a two-vehicle accident with fatalities, multiple injuries and an arrest.

The sheriff’s department was assisted at the mock scene by Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Emergency Rescue, Hogan Township Fire Department, Indiana State Police and UC Air Care.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, almost 29 people in the U.S. die each day in alcohol-impaired vehicle crashes.
