Paducah Man Killed In Single Vehicle Accident Near Sparta

Police say snowy conditions caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.

(Sparta, Ky.) – Police are investigation a fatal crash in Gallatin County.

Kentucky State Police responded to the accident on Interstate 71 near Sparta on November 30.

According to a news release Tuesday, the preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Mohamed Kassem, 26, of Paducah, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, and collided with an unoccupied commercial vehicle parked on the emergency shoulder.

Police say snowy road conditions caused Kassem to lose control of his vehicle.

Kassem was transported to University of Louisville Hospital. On Tuesday, Kassem died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Toxicology results are pending.
