Osgood Fire Earns Significant Improvement in Fire Protection Services Evaluation

A better ISO rating means enhanced safety and can lead to lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses.

(Osgood, Ind.) - The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating a recent achievement.

The department has achieved a Public Protection Classification (PPC) of Class 04/4Y, effective May 1. This is a significant improvement from the department's previous rating of Class 6/6X.

The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates a community's fire protection services and assigns a PPC score on a scale of 1 to 10. Class 1 represents the best possible fire protection, while Class 10 indicates that minimum criteria are not being met. A better ISO rating means enhanced safety and can lead to lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses.

Here’s what this achievement means for Osgood:

  • Enhanced Safety: The improved PPC rating reflects stronger fire protection and a reduction in fire risks.
  • Lower Insurance Premiums: Many insurance companies use this rating to calculate premiums, potentially saving you money!
  • Community Commitment: This achievement highlights our town’s dedication to improving fire safety, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure.
