One Injured In Failure To Yield Accident In Franklin Co.

The accident remains under investigation.

(Holton, Ind.) – A two vehicle accident that hospitalized one is under investigation in Ripley County.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on August 29 around 5:05 p.m. at the intersection of Old Michigan Road and U.S. 50 near Holton.

Deputies say the initial investigation showed that Amy Hobbs, 30, of Versailles, was northbound on Old Michigan Road when she failed to yield to a westbound vehicle on U.S. 50 driven by Michael Prince, 34, of Holton.

Prince tried to swerve to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. His vehicle went sideways off the roadway where it rolled twice before coming to a rest on its wheels.

Hobbs told investigators that she had come to a complete stop and looked both directions before pulling onto U.S. 50.

A witness contradicted that story, saying that Hobbs rolled through the stop sign and into the path of Prince’s vehicle, which caused a collision.

Prince was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Hobbs was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
