Oldenburg Academy To Have Balanced Calendar

(Oldenburg, Ind.) - Another southeast Indiana school will be on a balanced calendar next year.

Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception administrators say the 2012-13 school year will begin on August 8 next year with a one week fall break and two week spring break.

The Franciscan Catholic co-educational college preparatory high school will see another schedule change next year, switching from a seven class period day to eight.

“Staying within the 8:00 am to 3:05 p.m. school day, OA’s new bell schedule will afford students and teachers alike more flexibility in choosing courses, smaller class sizes in core curricular areas, and the option of choosing a Student Resource Time (study hall) for completing homework, tutoring, or make up work,” said principal Bettina Rose.

The move to eight periods will allow Oldenburg to offer students religion classes five days a week.

Oldenburg joins other districts which have decided on balanced calendars next year, including Batesville, Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn, and South Ripley.
