Ohio County Unemployment Rate Drops Below Two Percent

INDIANAPOLIS - All five southeastern Indiana counties in the Eagle Country 99.3 service area saw their unemployment rate rise in May. 

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released Monday employment data for Indiana counties, cities and MSAs. 

Locally, Ohio County had the best unemployment rate in May at 1.9 percent. Ohio County's jobless rate is up 0.5 percent from April but falls below the statewide rate of 2.2 percent. 

Switzerland County's unemployment rate of 2.6 was the highest in the area last month.
