Ohio County Circuit Court Postpones Non-Urgent Hearings

This precautionary action has hopes of mitigating the spread of COVID-19 to maintain the essential Court operations during this declared state of emergency.

(Ohio Co., Ind.) - The Ohio County Circuit Court has announced that they will be taking the necessary action of rescheduling non-urgent hearings to protect the health and safety of the community.

Although the Court will remain open, this precautionary action has hopes of mitigating the spread of COVID-19 to maintain the essential Court operations during this declared state of emergency.

Necessary hearings for defendants in custody, detained juveniles, and emergency CHINS (child in need of services), domestic violence matters, and other emergency matters will be held.

The Court will conduct any hearings that do not contain evidence by telephone whenever possible.

The e-filing system will remain in effect for processing motions and requests.

Accommodations will be made for those that need to file paperwork by using a drop-off box or mail.

Child support payments will be accepted by check or money order (no cash) through U.S. mail or a drop-off box at the Courthouse.

If you have any questions about your case or need to reschedule, please call the Court or your attorney.

If you have had any contact with the virus, have the virus, have a fever, or are at high risk, do not go to the Courthouse.

"There may be changes and we will keep the public updated as quickly as possible," says the Ohio County Circuit Court. "Please remember, this is a temporary situation, and the Court will work to restore full operations as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."

For further information, call the Ohio Circuit Court at (812) 438-3410, or the Ohio County Clerk's office at (812) 438-2610.
