(Wilmington, Oh.) - Severe storms are possible this afternoon throughout the tri-state area.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington's Hazardous Weather Outlook, showers and thunderstorms are likely today.
Some storms may be strong to severe during the afternoon and evening with damaging straight line winds being the primary threat. Additionally, large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
Ripley County EMA is reminding motorists to follow these tips while driving in the rain:
- Slow down
- Headlights on
- Avoid cruise control
- Increase stopping distance
- Watch for ponding water or debris in the roadway
- Do not drive through water covering the roadway or over downed power lines
