(Erlanger, Ky.) - A longtime, family-owned restaurant is closed until further notice due to a devastating fire.

Colonial Cottage on Dixie Highway in Erlanger went up in flames early Friday morning.

Erlanger Fire Department responded to blaze and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the establishment. Crews acted quickly to put out the flames, but not before heavy damage was done to the restaurant.

Luckily, no injuries were reported as nobody was in the building at the time of the fire.

A cause remains under investigation.

In a Facebook post Friday, the owners thanked the community for their support during this difficult time:

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out. Matt and I and the entire Cottage Team appreciate your concern. Today has been challenging and we are still in shock trying to digest everything. Thankful no one was onsite and no Injuries to the firefighters. No news to report other than that the fire inspectors are on the case and we hope to have more details next week. Brock Restoration has started the cleaning process and secured the building. Now we wait for additional information and lots of meetings as we work toward a reopening."

Colonial Cottage has been family-owned and operated since 1933, providing home cooking at an affordable price.
