The new support group at Highpoint Health will meet five times in October.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Whispers of Hope Support Group provides understanding, compassion and support for those who have lost a loved one through drug addiction and/or overdose.  Highpoint Health Hospice will begin this new support group in October for grieving families and friends.

Whispers of Hope will meet on Tuesdays, October 2 through 30, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Highpoint Health Home Health & Hospice offices, 370 Bielby Road, Lawrenceburg.  Rev. Patti Warning, Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, will facilitate the group.

“The families of individuals who have passed due to drug addiction and/or overdose suffer not only the loss of those they loved, but they may also become isolated in their grief.  In some cases, society may treat them differently from others who have experienced a loss,” Rev. Warning stated.  “This group is designed to walk survivors through this difficult time and provide grief information that is relevant to losing a loved one from addiction.

“We can assist survivors in not blaming the victim or themselves,” she continued.  “Most importantly, we provide compassionate support while we journey with the family in this time of grief.”

There is no charge to participate, however, registration is required.  For more information or to register, please contact Rev. Warning at 812/537-8192 or 800/676-5428 or email her at pwarning@myhph.org.
