(Aurora, Ind.) - Today marks the first day of service for Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit's (AERU) new ambulance.
After more than 13 years of service, AERU is saying goodbye to their 2011 Ford F-450, and celebrating the start of service for their brand-new Ford F-550 ambulance.
"For some of our members, it was the very first ambulance they worked in, making today a meaningful mix of nostalgia and pride," reads a statement from Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit.
The transition marks the official retirement of the classic orange and white paint scheme, as AERU is moving forward with a fresh look with modern capabilities.
The new unit, ordered in 2023, was made possible through community support and generous contributions from the Dearborn County Council and Commissioners and the Rising Sun Regional Foundation.
"With our new ambulance, we’re ready to continue providing reliable, efficient, and top-quality care to our community for years to come."
