Nearly 4,000 Lbs. Of Catfish Caught At Rainy Ohio River Valley Cats Catfish Tourney

The rain made for tough conditions on the Ohio River, but that didn't stop the fish from biting.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The rain didn’t stop hundreds of anglers from making their way to southeast Indiana this past weekend.

The 13th Annual Ohio River Valley Cats Catfish Tournament was held Saturday and Sunday on the Ohio River in Rising Sun.

Dozens of teams took to the swollen river to catch a total of 3,996 pounds of fish. The rain did make for some tough conditions, including large amounts of drift and swift currents.

The $10,000 grand prize went to a team from Bloomingdale, Indiana with a total weight of 121.4 pounds. The biggest fish caught was a 50 pounder by Team Kraus from Brookville. The biggest catch netted the team a $5,150 prize.

In total, the Ohio River Valley Cats awarded $33,718 in cash prizes and numerous other prizes including a rod rack and rod holders from Driftmaster.
