(Dillsboro, Ind.) – Nearly 30 firefighters were needed to fight a brush and woods fire on Monday evening
Friendship Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Grelle Road and Burke Benning Road around 6:18 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a locked gate down to a private lane in a remote location with a fire that was burning multiple acres on “very difficult terrain.”
Multiple agencies helped contain the fire from reaching a nearby cabin despite aggressive winds.
Units remained on scene until after 10:00 p.m.
An estimated eight to nine acres burned.
Agencies assisting at the scene were Dillsboro Fire, Milan Fire, Versailles Fire, and Aurora Emergency Rescue.
