Minister Accused Of Tax Evasion

(Union, Ky.) - A Boone County minister who preached about Jesus Christ's return in 2012 is being charged with dodging his taxes.

Ronald Weinland, 62, of Union, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury of five counts of tax evasion, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The indictment alleges Weinland lied about his income, paid some of his personal expenses using church donations, and tried to hide the existence of a Swiss bank account. Weinland allegedly failed to pay more than $357,000 from 2004 to 2008.

Among his teachings at the internet-based Church of God, the minister say Jesus Christ will return in May 2012.

Weinland faces up to five years if convicted.
