(Milan, Ind.) - Genesis: Pathways to Success continued its A Summer of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) programming this week with Milan CARES Jedi Knight Camp. Roughly eighty students from Milan Community Schools enjoyed three days learning like Jedi Knights, becoming knowledgeable on mindfulness and completing Star Wars crafts.

To kick off camp, our students, Jedi Knights in training, received tips for mindfulness and breathing techniques. Students then completed the task of uncovering their crystals in order to receive their lightsaber color. They accomplished victorious games of capture the Yoda and ended the day building and decorating their very own lightsaber. A Milan student stated, “The first day was my favorite day and I wish I could do this all summer.”

Students returned for another two days of camp ready to become one step closer to becoming Jedi Knights. While improving their mindfulness skills, they played tense games of Smashball and completed the task of cracking the cipher code. Students created Star Wars Lego figures and learned a quick game of dot-dash. Students earned their Jedi Knight certificate after completing their mindfulness tubes. Students boarded the Starfighter and ended their three day Jedi Knight training.

Genesis would like to thank Milan CARES and the Milan Community School Corporation for graciously welcoming us into their facilities and partnering with us to make Jedi Knight Camp a success. We would also like to thank all of the Milan CARES staff for their hard work and dedication. Jedi Knight Camp would not be possible without them. Genesis would lastly like to thank the community for making A Summer of STREAM run smooth and safely.
