Mike Braun is Governor-Elect, Erin Houchin Remains in Congress

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana voters went to the ballot box on Tuesday to make their choice for Governor, Attorney General, U.S. Representative, State Senator, and State Representative, among other races. 

As of Wednesday morning, 88 percent of precincts have reported their tallies.

The choice for governor is Republican Mike Braun. He received 54 percent of the vote to Jennifer McCormick's 42 percent. Libertarian Donald Rainwater took five percent of the vote. 

Braun will take over for Eric Holcomb, who is term-limited after two terms as governor. 

Governor-elect Braun first appeared on the ballot 20 years ago in May 2004 when he was elected to the Greater Jasper School Board. He is the first former school board member elected Governor of the State of Indiana since Samuel Ralston in 1912.

Todd Rokita will continue to serve as the state's attorney general. The incumbent Republican received 58 percent of votes, while Democrat Destiny Well received 42 percent. Rokita has been Indiana Attorney General since 2021 after he defeated then AG Curtis Hill in the 2020 election. 

Incumbent Republican Erin Houchin has been declared the winner of the U.S. Representative, Ninth District race after receiving 63 percent of the vote. Democrat Timothy Peck garnered 35 percent of the vote, while Libertarian Russell Brooksbank got three percent. 

State Senator Jean Leising (Oldenburg) will continue serving southeastern Indiana after she ran unopposed in the District 42 race. State Representative Alex Zimmerman (North Vernon) also ran unopposed and will continue serving District 67. 

There were two contested races in southeast Indiana for State Representative. in District 55, incumbent Republican Lindsay Patterson (Brookville) defeated Victoria Martz with 80 percent of the vote. 

In District 68, Republican Garrett Bascom received 76 percent of the vote to Democrat Lisa Barker's 24 percent.
