(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – MGP Ingredients, Inc. is marking the 100th anniversary of prohibition with a rare bourbon.

This November, MGP plans to release Remus Volstead Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a one-time rare, reserve whiskey, reports Yahoo Finance.

The word Volstead comes from the Volstead Act, which enforced the 18th Amendment outlawing the production and distribution of alcoholic spirits in the U.S. in 1919.

MGP says the rare bourbon is made from their finest 14-year aged reserves and has spent the same time in barrel as the U.S. spent under prohibition. It will also be bottled at 100-proof at MGP’s historic distillery in Lawrenceburg.

Remus Volstead Reserve has rich aromas of dried canned fruit, caramelized pecans, oak, char and tobacco.

No more than 500 9-liter cases will be available for markets where George Remus Bourbon is currently sold.

The suggested price for Remus Volstead Reserve is $199.99 per 750-ml bottle.
