(Manchester, Ind.) – The Manchester Township Board and Trustee has voted to prohibit Manchester Athletic Association (MAA) from using Manchester Park in future years.
A legal notice was sent out last week stating that “the Board has an obligation to ensure the Park remains a safe and welcoming environment for those who use the Park for the remainder of the year.”
The decision, which is effective immediately, stems from “MAA’s conduct --- and complicity in condoning the conduct of some individuals attending activities there --- has made the Park less safe and welcoming than it should be,” according to the legal notice.
MAA President Lauren Fox wrote in a Facebook post that there are 205 kids depending on this league to play t-ball, softball and baseball.
“Myself, and several others, are absolutely crushed,” said Fox. “This is not right.”
She added that the “less safe” comment couldn’t be further from the truth.
A town meeting has been scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the new Firehouse on State Road 48.
