Man Bumped From Pickup Truck Bed, Hit By Following Vehicle

The accident happened early in the morning on Memorial Day at Lakeshore Resort near Brookville Lake.

(Brookville, Ind.) – A man was ejected from a pickup truck as he was riding in the truck bed, then struck by a following vehicle in Brookville.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says the accident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 28 on Lakeshore Boulevard in the Lakeshore Resort.

Deputies determined James Robert Haas, 24, of Brookville, was operating a 2009 Dodge pickup truck as passengers say in the truck’s bed. Haas told deputies that he went over a speed bump, causing Damon Lee Kyle Morris, 23, of Indianapolis, to be ejected from the truck.

Morris was then struck by a 2000 Ford Mustang being operated by Mark Herman Baldridge, 27, of Brookville. Baldridge was traveling behind Haas’ truck.

Morris was transported to Oxford Airport by Drewersburg EMS. From there, he was flown by Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. His current condition has not been released.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Brookville Police, Responder 24, and Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
