INDIANAPOLIS - State Rep. Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2023 legislative session.
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined Lyness on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.
"Paging at the Statehouse is a great opportunity for students," Lyness said. "It's never too soon for young Hoosiers to get involved with their government and learn about how our state operates. I hope their experience at the Statehouse inspires their curiosity and interest in public service."
These area students served as pages during the 2023 legislative session:
- Aiden Sirk, from Greendale, attends Lawrenceburg High School;
- Ethan Rayles, from Vevay, attends Switzerland County High School;
- Kaylynn Schaefer, from Florence, attends Switzerland County Middle School;
- Kendra Earnshaw, from Sunman, attends East Central High School;
- Lydia Cornett, from Versailles, attends South Ripley High School;

Lyness said page positions are still open for students ages 13 to 18 to sign up and spend a day at the Indiana Statehouse during the 2023 legislation session. Pages will receive an excused absence from school and can participate in groups. Opportunities to page are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout session, which must conclude by the end of April. Students are responsible for their lunch, and transportation to and from the Statehouse.
