Longtime Lawrenceburg Police Officer Retiring After 21 Years

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Police Sergeant Jacob Jump is calling it a career after two decades of service. 

Effective today, Jump is retiring after 21 years of service to the Lawrenceburg Police Department and the City of Lawrenceburg. 

For much of those 21 years, Jump served as a K9 officer with K9 Newby and K9 Abram. Throughout his years as a K9 officer, Jump became a master K9 trainer, and helped train K9 teams throughout Dearborn County, the State of Indiana and beyond. 

Jump is also credited with helping coordinate the first "Get Hooked on Fishing" event, which encourages area youth to get out and enjoy the outdoors while fishing responsibly.
