(Osgood, Ind.) – Some big improvements have been made at the Osgood Trails.

The Town of Osgood has put $40,000 worth of grants into three projects to improve the trail systems.

A $26,000 grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation helped fund critical bank erosion and soil repairs created by fluctuating water levels.

Another $8,000 grant from the Gilmore & Golda Reynolds Foundation funded crack and seal repairs and repaving of the trails. The Ripley County Community Foundation provided $7,000 towards a new water bottle filling/drinking station complete with a pet bowl attachment.

“The Town of Osgood team has been working diligently this year to finish several improvement projects at the Osgood Trails. These amazing new developments would not have been possible without the generosity of three local foundations,” reads a statement from town officials.

There are several more exciting improvements and advancements coming to the trails. Last month, the Town of Osgood announced they were selected to receive a $400,000 grant from the Indiana Trails Program.

The funding will be used to expand the Osgood Trials, which includes the addition of approximately 1.25 miles of paved trails around the south quarry pond.

The goal is for the new trail section to be completed by the end of next summer.

Additionally, the trails are under camera surveillance for the safety and security of guests.
