Local Community Choir Has Plans To Keep Singing This Fall

Voices of Indiana will rehearse an all-ages choir Mondays at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds starting August 17.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Voices of Indiana's popular program Young Voices will look much different this year by including voices of all ages.

Starting Monday, August 17, Young Voices' practices will welcome community members of all ages at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds. Families are encouraged to participate during the two rehearsal times offered, 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. or 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Both rehearsals with include the same music that is selected specifically for community singing.

“Getting back to singing in a safe and meaningful way is our highest priority,” said Susan Herrick, the founding Creative Director of Young Voices. “Meeting outdoors while also observing appropriate distancing seemed the best way to resume our rehearsals.”

The Dearborn County Fairgrounds contains multiple open-air structures that provide shade and shelter, along with electricity for lights and any amplification needs, making it a quality rehearsal space.

“We are so grateful to the City of Lawrenceburg and the Park Board for partnering with us. There are so many logistics to consider, but they made our first choice of location happen,” Herrick said.

Practices will run from August 17 through October 19, with no rehearsal on September 7.

A fee of $50 per singer or $125 for a family of 3 or more will be required. Thanks to a generous grant from the Ohio County Community Foundation, financial assistance will be available for those that may need it.
