Aurora, Lawrenceburg and Greendale are among those who received funds to improve roads and bridges.

The City of Lawrenceburg received over $556,000 to improve infrastructure in the community.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Communities in Senate District 43 will receive more than $4.2 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Chip Perfect (R-Lawrenceburg).

The CCMG was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, and aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it was put into place, the program has awarded nearly $500 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 43, the following counties and municipalities received grants:

·       Aurora received $611,447.16;

·       Bartholomew County received $591,796;

·       Dearborn County received $999,884;

·       Elizabethtown received $118,730.12;

·       Greendale received $610,794.94;

·       Greensburg received $504,601.86;

·       Hope received $189,401.25;

·       Lawrenceburg received $556,834.67; and

·       Westport received $107,175.75.

“I am pleased to see our area take advantage of such a great financial resource,” Perfect said. “I am confident these grants will have a positive impact on our communities, and I look forward to seeing improvements to our roads and bridges in the coming months.”

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of at least 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of at least 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
