(Dearborn County, Ind.) - It is a big year for one of the four campuses of All Saints Parish.

In 2024, St. John the Baptist Church will celebrate its bicentennial.

This anniversary is the birth of Catholicism in Dearborn County. The first Masses and the sacraments were celebrated in Dover.

To celebrate 200 years, many events will take place throughout 2024 beginning with an inaugural Mass celebrated by Archbishop Thompson at the Lawrenceburg Event Center on Sunday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. Plans are also being made for a special event at each of the seven churches throughout 2024.

All Saints Perish has grown throughout the years to seven active church building in Dearborn County.

Fr John Hollowell and Fr Jonathan Meyer are priests in solidum over all seven churches (4 total parishes) in Dearborn County. All Saints Parish has four campuses; St John - Dover, St Joseph - St Leon, St Martin - Yorkville, St Paul - New Alsace. And three separate parishes: St Lawrence - Lawrenceburg, St Mary - Aurora, and St Teresa- Bright. All together there are 8 weekend Masses, and 9 weekday Masses offered to around 2,200 families and countless ministries and events to bring forth a vibrant community (E6 Catholic Men’s Conference, 4 summer festivals, Bright Lights Drive Through Christmas Exhibit, St. Lawrence School, ARS Cafe and Meetinghouse, religious education classes, preschools, just to mention a few). Pastors Hollowell and Meyer say it’s hard to put into words what this milestone means. “Dreams are possible and faith is enduring; what was planted here 200 years ago is still growing and bearing fruit. There have been times of struggle and challenge, but we are still here, striving to fulfill our purpose.” For more information about All Saints Perish and St. John the Baptist Church bicentennial, please visit dccatholics.com.
