LMU Reports Utility Scam Alert

Residents have received a call from scammers impersonating a utility company called “DEARBORN UTILITIES”.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities has been notified of a potential UTILITY SCAM ALERT. 

Residents have received a call from scammers impersonating a utility company called “DEARBORN UTILITIES” stating their utility account is past due and service will be interrupted for non-payment.  Individual is then given option to press # with number to make a payment or to call 812-537-3844 back. 

Please be advised this is a utility scam alert. Do not give personal account information or give credit card/debit card account numbers over the phone to make a utility payment. Do not call the phone number back as requested by the scammer. 

Lawrenceburg Municipal Utilities (LMU) will never ask for credit or debit card account numbers for utility payments over the phone.  If LMU calls for a disconnection reminder, customers will receive available options to pay LMU utility bills included on-line at www.THINKLAWRENCEBURG.com or by calling 1-888-301-0730 anytime with Smart Hub Payment Options. Lawrenceburg Municipal Utility Payments are also accepted at the LMU Drive Thru available Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
