LHS Grad, U.S. Army Vet To Be Honored As Reds Hometown Hero

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - For the second time this week, a southeastern Indiana war hero will be honored by the Cincinnati Reds. 

Greendale native Christian Simpson will be the Reds' Hometown Hero on Wednesday, September 25.  

Simpson, a Lawrenceburg High School graduate in 2009, enlisted in the Army in 2010. After completing basic training and eight months of additional training in Oklahoma, Simpson was deployed to Afghanistan. 

He spent one year there, including six months at FOB Pasab and six months in Kandahar Air Base. 

Simpson returned to the USA to complete his enlistment at Ft. Stewart, Georgia. He spent a total of five years in the Army.
