Lawrenceburg Planning Civic Park Expansion

A purchase agreement has been approved to acquire a property at Williams and Short streets, which will be used to build a new open-air structure.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A new addition to Lawrenceburg Civic Park is in the works.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, a motion was passed to purchase a property at Williams and Short streets.

The purchase agreement is for $550,000.

The type of funding used for the purchase will depend on when the purchase goes through. Currently, the most likely scenario is that the property is paid for from the city’s Rainy Day Fund.

Mayor Kelly Mollaun stated that the property will be demolished to make way for an open-air type structure that matches up with the architecture of the current Civic Park stage.

Molluan added that the structure would be used for the skating rink in the winter, the Farmers Market, outdoor art shows, and other events.

The structure is also expected to feature additional restrooms.

“This structure is another piece to the park, a great addition to the park,” said Mollaun.
