Lawrenceburg Mayor Selects Finalists for Christmas Essay Contest

The winners will be announced this Sunday during the tree lighting ceremony at Civic Park.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The City of Lawrenceburg has announced the finalist for the 2024 Winter Wonderland Christmas Essay Contest.

Mayor Kelly Mollaun visited Central Elementary School this week to meet with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade finalists.

The finalists were selected after Mayor Mollaun read over 300 submissions, answering the question "Who has the most Christmas spirit in your family and why?"

“The essays submitted this year were so personal and enjoyable to read,” said Mollaun.

The students selected as finalists are:

  • 3rd Grade: Julia Bondurant, Easton Dameron and Mason Haring
  • 4th Grade: Layla Lopez, Bailee Nieman and Christian Wick
  • 5th Grade: Lily Johnson, Lola Jean Scalia and Marlee Smith

The winning essays will be announced at the City of Lawrenceburg’s Annual Mayors Reception and Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at 7pm on the Lawrenceburg Civic Park Stage.

Three winners will be selected in each grade and will receive their winning essay custom framed along with a gift card as follows: 1st place $100, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25.
