(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The Lawrenceburg High School Esports team is taking gaming to the next level.

On Monday, a new state-of-the-art Esports arena was unveiled at LHS.

The arena is complete with new gaming desks, PCs, headsets, and chairs.

The LHS Esports team has grown quickly over the past few years. They finished their first competitive season with the Indiana High School Esports Network in the spring of 2022.

At the end of their first competitive season, the Lawrenceburg Super Smash Brothers (SSB) team made a run to the state finals.

Currently, 30 high school student-athletes compete during fall and spring seasons under Coach Carrie Stegemiller.

"We are so excited to have been blessed with $20,000 from the AltaFiber Elevating Education Contest. We also would like to give a big thank you to our Building Facility Maintenance Classes for doing most of the construction on the room. This arena really takes our esports program to the next level. Students now have access to better equipment for competitions and streaming. We are so thankful for such a supportive administration and this opportunity to have such an amazing space," said Stegemiller.

Their new Esports arena was made possible by a $20,000 Elevating Education grant from Altafiber.

The company was on hand on Monday for a special ribbon cutting ceremony.
