(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The river levee in Lawrenceburg could be getting a facelift at the end of the winter.

On October 21, Lawrenceburg City Council initially approved a $350,000 project that would provide green space, shade and seating along the Dearborn Trail near Ivy Tech Community College's Riverfront Campus.

The project falls within the 2020 budget ordinance that was passed unanimously. The 2020 budget is pending state approval.

City attorney Del Weldon says the levee enhancement project could begin in the spring.

"We want to continue our riverfront development, which may eventually include a new boardwalk, new docks, more riverside restaurants and businesses, and a marina," Weldon added.
