(Columbus, Ohio) -- State lawmakers are looking at a new bill which would legalize sports betting in Ohio.
The new bi-partisan proposal was introduced Tuesday by state representatives Dave Greenspan (R-Westlake) and Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati).
It would legalize betting on professional and college sports. A sports gaming advisory board would be created and administered by the Ohio Lottery Commission. Betting would be taxed at 10 percent with revenue going to the Lottery Profits Educations Fund and towards programs that combat gambling addiction.
Lawmakers say the new bill is in response to a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing states to offer legalized sports betting.
