Lawmaker Deals With Girl Scout Criticism

State Rep. Bob Morris

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - State Representative Bob Morris has become a joke at the Indiana Statehouse for his criticism of the Girl Scouts.

The Fort Wayne Republican is sticking by his comments that the Girl Scouts are pushing a radicalized pro-gay, pro-abortion agenda. He wrote the allegations in a letter to other state lawmakers.

Morris was the only member of the House to vote against a resolution recognizing the organization's 100th birthday because he claims to have found information on the Internet linking the Girl Scouts to Planned Parenthood.

House Speaker Brian Bosma, a fellow Republican, ridiculed Morris during session Tuesday by handing out Girl Scout cookies and talking to reporters with boxes of the cookies at his side.

“There are a lot of side shows at the General Assembly and really in all walks of life and you just have to determine which ones you are going to go into,” Bosma said.

Morris said the letter he wrote was not meant to be public, but he isn’t changing his mind.

“It’s something that my family and I feel deeply about,” said Morris.
