Lauren Hill Honored At 2020 Mount Madness

Mount St. Joseph's Mount Madness fundraiser happened on Saturday, February 8.

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Local hero, Lauren Hill, was celebrated at Mount St. Joseph this past weekend.

The fifth annual "Mount Madness" games against Defiance College took place on Saturday. The annual event raises money to support the Lauren Hill Forever 22 Scholarship.

Lauren Hill was a member of the 2014-2015 women's basketball team at the Mount. Just a couple of months after committing to the Mount, Lauren and her family received the heartbreaking news that she was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) which is a rare type of brain cancer that is considered inoperable due to its growth on the brain stem.

Despite battling the rare disease, Hill would realize her dream of playing college basketball in front of a sold out Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University.

Her legacy continues on through fundraising for cancer research and to help families affected by DIPG.

The men and women's teams at The Mount did their part to make Mount Madness a success by winning both games against Defiance. The men were victorious 84-78, while the women's team won 62-60.
