(Aurora, Ind.) - A long-lasting construction project on U.S. 50 in Aurora is nearing an end.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Monday that road crews will remove the concrete barriers on U.S. 50 Eastbound near Wilson Creek Road on Tuesday.

Crews have been working since last April to stabilize a slide area on U.S. 50 known as the King-Queen slide. The name comes from the troubled stretch of highway’s proximity to Burger King and Dairy Queen.

Meanwhile, a new project to repair and resurface six miles of U.S. 50 from Aurora to Greendale continues this spring. The lane restrictions associated have been leading to significant delays for motorists on the highway since last week.

A lane restriction was put in place on U.S. 50 Westbound in Lawrenceburg on Monday, but crews have returned to the eastbound lanes of the highway starting near Wilson Creek Road Tuesday morning.
