King, Gray, Moore Winners at 9th Annual Lauren's Burg Hill

Nearly 200 competitors showed up to run or walk at the event on Saturday in Lawrenceburg.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – It was a great turnout for a great cause.

The 9th annual Lauren’s Burg Hill 5K and 5-mile took place Saturday in Lawrenceburg. Proceeds from the event benefit Lauren’s Fight for Cure to provide scholarships and assistance to families suffering from pediatric brain cancer, and research.

This year, 180 participants competed in the 5-mile, 5K run, or 5K walk.

Cincinnati native Owen King, 21, narrowly won the 5-mile race with a time of 28:19. He beat out Lawrenceburg’s Bryan Wagner, 39, who finished with a time of 28:37.

Chance Helms, 21, of Harrison, rounded out the top three in the 5-mile run. Versailles native and former South Ripley High School standout Lanie Nicholson was the top performing female in the 5-mile run, finishing fourth overall with a time of 34:11.

The Lauren’s Burg Hill 5K run winner was Larremy Gray, 40, of Cincinnati. Gray crossed the finish line at 18:28. Mason Bascom, 14, of Osgood, followed closely behind with a time of 18:40.

Another 14-year-old, Luke Sullivan, of Vevay, placed third.

The top performing female competitor was Amber Detmer, 16, of Patriot. She placed eighth overall with a time of 24:20.

The winner of the 5K walk was Kelly Moore, 39, of Milford, Ohio. She completed the course in 36:04.
