(Batesville, Ind.) – A local non-profit is lending a helping hand to southeastern Indiana families in need.
Vice president of the Kids Discovery Factory (KDF) board, Emili Uden, and a local anonymous donor decided to create and distribute Art & Engineering Kits to provide essential tools to students while they are learning from home.
This outreach project stemmed from the concern that many students might not have art and school supplies at home, in turn, limiting their experience during time away from school. As a result, the anonymous donor offered to provide the funds to support the idea KDF Art & Engineering Kits.
Kids Discovery Factory pitched the idea to Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC), and the BAAC matched the donation to double the program's outreach potential.
The KDF board designed the kits, ordered materials, assembled bags, and distributed 300 kits through local food pantries, including Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, and Ripley Counties.
