(Gallatin County, Ky.) - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on July 1 in Gallatin County.

The preliminary investigation has indicated that a Gallatin County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a traffic violation on Ambrose Road.

During the traffic stop, the operator of the motorcycle, Justin L. Hunt, a 37 year-old male from Hebron,  disregarded lawful orders from the Sheriff's Deputy and began to flee from police.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated, and Hunt lost control of his motorcycle in an 'S' curve portion of Ambrose Road and traveled off the roadway into a grassy area and down a steep embankment.

The deputy in pursuit entered into the same 'S' curve, and attempted to stop his agency vehicle, but due to the steep embankment was unable to do so and struck Hunt.

Hunt sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation remains ongoing by the Critical Incident Response Team.
