Jury Convicts Dealer Who Sold Meth To Woman Who Ate It, Died

Lola Sells still faces a possible conviction in a second meth dealing case in Franklin County.

(Franklin County, Ind.) - A jury trial in Franklin County ended with a woman being convicted of dealing methamphetamine to a woman who later died after eating the drugs.

Lola M. Sells sold seven grams of meth to Felicia Craig in August 2014. Craig, 25, had met Sells to purchase the drugs for her boyfriend, Adam Wagner.

Craig is believed to have swallowed the meth as she was pulled over by a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy on Interstate 74 shortly after the drug deal. After investigating, the deputy allowed Craig to go on freely. She was found dead at a truck stop off the interstate in New Point just hours later.

On August 30, a Franklin County jury convicted Sells of two counts: Dealing in Methamphetamine Manufacture/Deliver/Finance-5 & 10 Grams (level 3 felony) and Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in Methamphetamine Manufacture/Deliver/Finance-5 & 10 Grams (level 3 felony).

The Brookville Democrat-American newspaper reports Wagner, who testified under an immunity deal, was the key witness in the trial. He said he arranged for the sale with Sells. He said he spoke on the phone with Craig after the traffic stop and she told him she ingested the drugs in a panic to avoid arrest.

The 52-year-old Sells’ sentencing by Judge Steven J. Cox in Franklin Circuit Court is scheduled for October 10. The sentence for a level 3 felony ranges from three up to 16 years.

Sells still faces another meth dealing case set to go to trial October 22 in the same court. She allegedly participated in a drug-running operation transporting meth from Georgia to southeastern Indiana. If convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in Methamphetamine Manufacture/Deliver/Finance 10 or More Grams (level 2 felony), she faces another 10 to 30 years.
