(Batesville, Ind.) - Last Thursday, Jim Amos was honored as the 2025 recipient of the Robert R. Walsman Award, a recognition presented annually to a community member who has generously dedicated their time and talents to Margaret Mary Health. Amos served as president and CEO of MMH from 1987 to 2009.

“During his tenure as president, Jim expanded Margaret Mary, bringing additional medical services to our community with the addition of the cancer and rehabilitation centers,” said MMH Chairman of the Board George Junker. “He also recruited many of Margaret Mary’s current physicians who touch the lives of our patients every day.”

Named in honor of Robert R. Walsman, the award celebrates Walsman’s legacy as an avid golfer who helped start the MMH golf outing in 1984. Each year, the recognition is presented to an individual who shares his passion for furthering the hospital’s mission.

The award was given following Margaret Mary Health Foundation’s 41st annual golf outing. Held at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, the event raised more than $88,000 to support the construction of MMH’s new hospital, expected to open in June of 2026.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received at our golf outing,” said Jonathon Maple, MMHF Executive Director. “This year, we had a record number of teams participating. All funds raised will play a crucial role in completing our new hospital.”

Next year’s golf outing is set for Aug. 13, 2026 at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
