Students who participate in dual credit receive both high school credit, as well as college credit when enrolling in these courses.

INDIANAPOLIS - Ivy Tech Community College’s dual credit programming is now accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). NACEP is a national accrediting body that ensures both the quality of college in high school programming, as well as the alignment of this programming with on-campus academic policies and procedures.

Dual credit courses are college courses taught to high school students by a high school teacher who is credentialed to teach at the post-secondary level. Students who participate in dual credit receive both high school credit, as well as college credit when enrolling in these courses. With more than 60,000 high school students and 445 partner high schools, Ivy Tech is the largest NACEP-accredited program in the nation.

“This accreditation demonstrates the dedication and excellence of Ivy Tech’s dual credit programming and our dual credit faculty members,” said Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech. “We congratulate those involved for their hard work in ensuring that the quality and rigor of the education obtained by dual credit students will be an investment in their future and further their academic success.”

Ivy Tech had previously had its dual credit program approved through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

“We are honored to receive national accreditation from such a revered organization,” said Dr. Rebecca Rahschulte, Ivy Tech’s Vice President of K-14 Initiatives and Statewide Partnerships. “Our strong partnerships with high schools and career centers throughout the state, along with our shared vision, made this accreditation a reality.”
