(Hope, Ind.) - A Madison man has been arrested on numerous charges following a vehicle pursuit where shots were fired.

According to Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, the incident began Tuesday before 10:30 p.m. when an officer from the Hope Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a passenger car in Hope.

The driver, Joseph L. Morrow, 41, refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit through Bartholomew and Decatur counties that lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Around 11:00 p.m., the vehicle entered a residential neighborhood just east of Columbus and drove through yards before circling around and driving towards the pursuing officers.

Investigators say Morrow drove his vehicle towards an ISP Trooper who was standing outside of his squad car. The trooper, who was not named, fired at least one round toward Morrow.

Neither the trooper nor Morrow were injured during the incident.

Soon after, Morrow was located on foot and was taken into custody without further incident. Morrow is facing numerous felony and misdemeanor charges related to the incident.

The trooper involved has been placed on administrative leave, per normal protocol, while the investigation is ongoing.
