ISP-Versailles Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

(North Vernon, Ind.) – Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting.

According to detectives with ISP-Versailles Post, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team responded to an address in the 4000 block of West County Road 175 North on Friday afternoon to serve an arrest warrant on Devin C. Lark.

Lark, 29, of Seymour, was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of Clark and Jennings counties.

Upon arriving at the scene, Lark fled on foot. While attempting to take Lark into custody, he allegedly produced a handgun and refused to drop it when ordered by a deputy.

A single shot was fired, striking Lark.

Deputies on scene provided immediate medical attention and CPR. Lark was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second adult male was at the address when the shooting occurred. He cooperated with officers and was arrested on an unrelated charge.

No officers were injured in the incident.
