Indiana Unemployment Rate Increases in December

The DWD estimates there are 122,911 Hoosiers that are unemployed, want a job, or are out of the labor force.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s unemployment rate increased slightly in December.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the state’s jobless rate stands at 3.1 percent, up from 3.0 percent a month prior.

Indiana’s unemployment rate remains lower than the national rate of 3.5 percent. In addition, the state’s labor force participation rate held at 63.2 percent for December, remaining above the national rate of 63.2 percent.

There are currently 128,198 open job postings throughout the state. In December, over 21,000 Hoosiers received unemployment benefits.

The DWD estimates there are approximately 122,911 Hoosiers that are unemployed, want a job, or are out of the labor force.
