Indiana GOP Sets All-Time Record With Mayoral Wins

Indiana Republicans set this record with 70 mayoral wins throughout the state.

(Indianapolis, Ind.)  – The Republican Party set a new record in this year's municipal elections.

The 2019 election ended with 70 Republican mayors throughout the state of Indiana.

A huge factor in breaking this record included flipping 19 traditionally Democrat mayoral offices such as Kokomo, Muncie, Logansport and Michigan City.

Republicans now hold 23 mayoral offices over the Democrats, which is another all-time record.

“It was a historic night for Republicans throughout Indiana as voters in city after city elected Republicans mayors,” said Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer. “Never in the history of Indiana have Republicans held this many mayoral offices or had this wide a margin over Democrats. By any measure, tonight was an overwhelming success for Indiana Republicans.”

Eagle Country followed the popular trend throughout the state with Lawrenceburg, Aurora, and Rising Sun all voting Republican candidates into their mayoral offices.

Come 2020 elections, Governor Holcomb will be in good standing as he has already secured the needed signatures to achieve ballot access in his re-election.
