We could have some early candidates for Deer of the Day after this weekend.
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Youth hunters can take to the woods this weekend in Indiana.
The Indiana DNR has announced that youth deer season will take place Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27.
On those dates, youth age 17 or younger can participate in a hunt but must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old.
Youth hunters can take an antlered deer and one or more doe. The youth hunter’s antlerless deer limit is determined by the bonus county quota for the county being hunted.
The DNR says youth hunters must possess a valid hunting license while in the field, unless exempt from needing a license. The youth’s adult partner must also possess a valid hunting license.
All hunters during youth deer season are required to wear orange. The youth hunter may use a legal firearm, bow and arrow, or crossbow to take a deer.
