Indiana DNR Announces Free Youth Hunting Days

The first free youth hunting days are this weekend.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Youth free hunting days are returning to Indiana.

The Indiana DNR says youth free hunting days will take place on September 8-9 and November 24-25. The designated free youth hunting days will allow for residents age 17 or younger to take any legal game in season

To participate, youths must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age. The adult must possess a valid hunting license, unless exempt and may help the youth hunter with calling game. However, the adult may not carry a firearm or weapon, except persons licensed to carry a handgun.

The youth deer season will also be held this September 29-30.

Youth hunters will be allowed one buck and one or more doe depending on which county they are hunting in. Youth hunters are required to have a valid deer hunting license during the youth deer season.
